School Nurse Doulos Discovery
As the health coordinator for the school, the nurse is responsible to oversee, coordinate and provide medical care for our students and school staff. The nurse is also responsible for accompanying staff and students on expeditions, providing medical attention if needed.
A baccalaureate degree is required. The degree can be in nursing or a related field. A good candidate will have a heart for missions, a heart for education, and a love of working with people as well as a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. The ideal candidate will have a willingness to subscribe to the school's doctrinal, mission and lifestyle statements and the values and philosophy of the residence life ministry and the desire to promote good health in our community.
Administer the student health program in accordance with ACSI standards
Provide training to the school community regarding good health practices, First Aid care and wilderness medicine
Provide annual checkup for all students which includes measurement of weight, height, blood pressure and a vision analysis
Advise students and parents regarding student immunizations
Administer routine first aid treatment to students, staff and school employees
Consult with any student who is ill during school and notify the proper authority
Communicate with parents and school staff regarding the health needs and care provided for students
Maintain and update medical records for students
Review annual student health forms
Document annual student check ups
Administer student medications as needed
