Position Title: HR/Accounting Assistant
Classification Level: LE-05 Step 1
Location: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Starting Salary: RD$615,663 year (plus benefits)
Type of Advertisement: Term February 16th to March 31st 2014 (with the possibility of extension and becoming indeterminate).
Open to: Locally-engaged staff, spouses/dependents of Canada-based staff and the general public who meet all the essential requirements, including non-nationals legally qualified to work in the country.
Closing date: December 23rd 2013, 4:30 PM.
Schedule of 37.5 hours per week.
Candidates must demonstrate clearly how they meet the language, education and experience requirements listed below.
Language: Proficiency in the use of English or French and Spanish, written and spoken.
Experience: At least 1 years’ experience providing Human Resources and/or Financial support in a professional office environment; Experience using Microsoft Office software including MS Word, Outlook and Excel. Experience in using database systems and entering data.
Education: Completed post-secondary education and/or an acceptable combination of education, training and work experience related to the duties and specific areas of competence required by the position.
Knowledge and abilities:
Knowledge of general office procedures related to administration (including HR and financial procedures).
Knowledge of tracking budget expenditures and invoices, and/or financial contracts.
Knowledge of bookkeeping or accounts payable/receivables.
Attention to detail.
Ability to manage and develop administrative systems, including overtime and appraisal systems.
Ability to provide advice to management on Dominican labour market and practices.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage a variety of responsibilities and shift priorities as required.
Ability to make written translations and verbal interpretations between English or French and Spanish.
Ability to prepare well written and accurate correspondence.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Tact and discretion.
Strong client services focus.
Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork and cooperation.
Proficiency in in the use of both of Canada’s official languages (English and French).
Experience using SAP systems.
Ability and willingness to work overtime, often on short notice.
Conditions of Employment:
Ability to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada security clearance. Maintain the ability to work legally in the Dominican Republic.
